About

Courtney D. Arntzen, MDIV

After 13 years as a Montana pastor, I ventured beyond the church walls. These days I explore spiritual curiosities and sacred questions among those who otherwise do not have accessible spiritual care.

Missoulians are spiritually curious; however, only 10% access spiritual care through a faith community. Furthermore, many Missoulians are suspicious of traditional faith communities because of distrust in institutions or faith leaders, prior painful experiences, physical or legal barriers, and insecurity of their welcome. Therefore, spiritual curiosities and faith questions are unexplored, making them more challenging to access in support of a thriving life. This is where I come in. The Missoula Community Chaplain explores spiritual curiosities and sacred questions with the institutionally suspicious by providing individuals and groups opportunities to pay attention to their life and connect body, mind, and spirit for their continued well-being and thriving.

As a community chaplain, I share the calling of my colleagues in hospitals, prisons, and the military to meet people as they experience vulnerable times. Still, I am available to a broader population. I am here to support individuals, non-profits, businesses, and the entire Missoula community. I value coming alongside our neighbors with short-term needs in times of struggle and rites of passage (funerals, memorials, weddings) and providing longer-term pastoral care, spiritual guidance, and a listening ear as we process the day to day struggles of life. I provide spiritual care for all: those who claim faith and those who may be spiritually curious or hold no religion. I am here to provide space for people to reflect on their life with a caring, non-judgmental, and confidential spiritual caregiver.

I would love to hear how my work and your life may intersect. Fill out the contact form to set up a time to chat.
